Why UHPC is sustainable and environment-friendly material?

1. Concrete materials themselves are low-carbon building materials.

During the production process, the CO₂ equivalent implied in each kilogram of concrete products is roughly between 0.05 and 0.3 kg, which is much lower than steel, plastic, glass and other building materials. From this perspective, concrete materials themselves are low-carbon building materials.

2. UHPC uses solid waste materials to reduce carbon emissions.

In the composition of UHPC materials, a large amount of filling powder materials plays an important role in the performance of UHPC. In addition to a large amount of cement, these materials also contain ultra-fine slag powder, silica fume, fly ash and other industrial solid wastes. By effectively utilizing these industrial solid waste materials, not only does it provide UHPC with unique performance advantages, but it also indirectly reduces carbon emissions.

3. The high-strength mechanical properties of UHPC reduce the amount of concrete used in the structure.

With its excellent compressive strength, UHPC perfectly matches with high tensile strength materials such as steel strands and steel bars, which not only greatly releases the mechanical performance potential of the material, but also reduces the amount of concrete used in the project, thus achieving the goals of saving materials, energy and carbon reduction.

4. The high durability of UHPC extends the service life of the structure and reduces the carbon emissions generated by maintenance and management.

Compared with steel structures, UHPC structures are known for their excellent high durability and almost zero maintenance costs, and are easy to meet building fire protection requirements. Compared with traditional reinforced concrete structures, the service life of UHPC structures has been doubled.
